(Timeline)

There is no open, year-round regularization portal. JAMB works through declaration windows:

November 2021: JAMB said it would no longer condone illegal or irregular admissions, and that all admissions must go through CAPS.

August 2024: JAMB gave institutions 30 days, from 1 August 2024, to declare every candidate they admitted illegally before 2017. It said undeclared pre-2017 admissions would no longer be recognised.

September 2024: a second phase covered students admitted outside CAPS who held JAMB registration numbers from 2017 to 2020. The University of Jos, for example, told affected students to log in to CAPS and complete their details by 30 September 2024.

22 June 2026: JAMB wrote to provosts of colleges of education asking for the full list of candidates illegally admitted in the 2024/25 and 2025/26 sessions, for possible condonement under an approval from the Minister of Education. The deadline was 30 June 2026 (JAMB letter).

As of 11 October 2026, we have not seen JAMB announce a new general window for universities or polytechnics. If your institution says it has declared you, ask which window and for written confirmation.

Steps to Regularize Your Admission

Check JAMB’s records first. Look yourself up on the official JAMB matriculation list page with your registration number. If your name is there, you do not need regularization.

Go to your institution’s admissions office. Ask whether your name was declared to JAMB for condonement, and in which window. Only the institution can declare you.

Follow the instructions your school and JAMB give you. This usually means logging in to your JAMB account (CAPS on efacility.jamb.gov.ng), completing your details, accepting the admission, and paying the condonement fee where JAMB requires it.

Print your admission letter once JAMB approves you. See how to print your JAMB admission letter.

Re-check the matriculation list. JAMB says that to appear on it, you print your admission letter and result slip online, then verify both with your institution’s admission officer.

If your school did not declare you and no window is open, ask the admissions office in writing what it will do, and raise a ticket with JAMB at support.jamb.gov.ng.

Documents to Have Ready

JAMB does not publish a single candidate checklist; your admissions office will tell you exactly what it needs. Have these ready:

Your JAMB registration number and UTME result slip, if you have them

Your O’level results (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB or GCE)

The admission letter your school gave you

Your matriculation number and year of entry

Your NIN, a working phone number and an email address you can open

A recent passport photograph

Part-Time, Sandwich and Distance Learning Students

Part-time and sandwich candidates are meant to register with JAMB before they start. JAMB lists part-time registration and sandwich registration at ₦10,000 each, plus a ₦700 CBT service charge. If you are already in a part-time or sandwich programme without a JAMB record, the route is the same as above: your institution must declare you to JAMB.

Avoid Regularization Scams

No agent, cybercafé or “JAMB staff” contact on WhatsApp can add you to JAMB’s records. Only your institution’s declaration and JAMB’s approval can.

Never buy an admission letter. JAMB checks admission letters at NYSC mobilization, and forged ones are prosecuted.

Pay JAMB fees only through JAMB’s own payment platform, and keep your transaction ID.

JAMB Regularization FAQ

How much is JAMB regularization in 2026?

JAMB lists condonement of illegal admission at ₦10,000 plus a ₦300 CBT service charge. You also pay ₦1,000 plus ₦100 to print your admission letter afterwards.

Can I do JAMB regularization by myself on my phone?

Not on your own. Your institution must declare you first. After that, you can usually complete your part by logging in to your JAMB account on your phone.

How long does JAMB regularization take?

JAMB does not publish a processing time. It depends on when your institution declares you and when JAMB processes that window.

Does JAMB regularization close?

There is no permanent open window. JAMB opens declaration windows for institutions, usually with a short deadline. Ask your admissions office whether a window is open now.

Is regularization the same as change of course?

No. Change of course is for UTME candidates still seeking admission.
