NELFUND Disbursement: Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Writes to Acknowledge Receipt

In a letter dated 20th February, 2025; the Acting Vice Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University( formerly Anambra State University), Prof. Kate Azuka Omennugha personally acknowledges the receipt of funds from the Nigeria Education Loan Funds (NELFUND). 

Recall that the loan scheme is an educational support programme introduced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. The scheme started last April, and it is interest-free. It offers beneficiaries a two(2) to ten(10) years repayment period after completing the national youth service.

The Acting VC’s Acknowledgement

Here the Acting VC of Ojukwu University wrote an acknowledgment letter to notify the loan body of funds receipt. He also stated clearly that the disbursement was received on Monday, February 17th, 2025. The letter reads “I write to acknowledge the receipt of N91,806,278.00 (Ninety One Million, Eight Hundred and Six Thousand, Two Hundred and Seventy-Eight Naira Only) being payment of school fees for 516 (Five Hundred and Sixteen) students of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University.

“We received the disbursement on Monday, February 17, 2025. We extend our sincere gratitude to you.”

Students have been benefiting from this scheme, especially the indigent ones. 

NELFUND Reacts to the Letter

Regarding the successful fund’s disbursement to Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University and the acknowledgment letter; NELFUND took to their X handle (formerly Twitter) to further broadcast the development. NELFUND writes “Disbursement announcement! Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University formerly (Anambra State University) expresses its sincere gratitude to NELFUND for the recent disbursement of N91,806,278, which will benefit 516 students. The disbursement was received on Monday February 17th 2025.”

The Brighter Picture

In a separate development, days ago, Nneamaka Okafor, the Director, Regional Advocacy, Nigeria Education Loan Funds (NELFUND), led the delegation to Umuehim Nvosi in Abia State on sensitisation. Though she observed that the SouthEast region ranks last in NELFUND loan application. But with the welcomed development at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, a lot of students shall be motivated to apply for the loan.
