The headline changes are a <strong>six-week orientation camp<\/strong> (up from three weeks), the <strong>scrapping of the Passing Out Parade (POP)<\/strong> in favour of a graduation ceremony, <strong>11 specialised skills streams<\/strong>, a <strong>civilian Director-General<\/strong>, a redesigned uniform and security-based postings. We will update this page as implementation dates are confirmed.\n<\/div>\n<h2>The 11 NYSC specialised streams<\/h2>\n<p>Every corps member will choose one of <strong>11 streams<\/strong> at registration, based on their academic background, skills and career interest, and receive training tailored to it:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Agric<\/li>\n<li>Medical<\/li>\n<li>Education<\/li>\n<li>Tech &amp; Digital<\/li>\n<li>Legal<\/li>\n<li>Public Service<\/li>\n<li>Infrastructure<\/li>\n<li>Green<\/li>\n<li>Enterprise<\/li>\n<li>Creative Economy<\/li>\n<li>Paramilitary &amp; Security Corps<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Six-week orientation camp (three phases)<\/h2>\n<p>The orientation course moves from three weeks to <strong>six weeks<\/strong>, split into three two-week phases:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Weeks 1&ndash;2:<\/strong> civic responsibility, national values, patriotism and leadership development.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Weeks 3&ndash;4:<\/strong> career mapping, financial literacy, basic accounting, business planning and access to finance.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Weeks 5&ndash;6:<\/strong> specialised, hands-on training in your chosen stream.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Military-style drills and parades during camp are being dropped, though the military will still provide security for corps members and camps nationwide.<\/p>\n<h2>No more Passing Out Parade (POP)<\/h2>\n<p>The traditional <strong>Passing Out Parade is being retired<\/strong>. The end-of-service event is being redesigned and renamed a <strong>formal graduation ceremony<\/strong> rather than a military parade. (Until the new law takes effect, current corps members still complete the existing POP &mdash; see our <a href=\"https:\/\/schoolnews.com.ng\/nysc\/pop\/\">NYSC POP guide<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<h2>Civilian Director-General<\/h2>\n<p>For the first time since 1973, the NYSC will be headed by a <strong>civilian Director-General<\/strong> (supported by Executive Directors), instead of a serving military officer of brigadier-general rank.<\/p>\n<h2>New uniform and security-based postings<\/h2>\n<p>A <strong>redesigned uniform<\/strong> &ldquo;that reflects professionalism and national pride&rdquo; replaces the kit worn since 1973. Postings will also follow a <strong>risk-sensitive deployment policy<\/strong>, taking the security situation of each area into account before corps members are sent to their places of primary assignment.<\/p>\n<h2>What it means for current corps members<\/h2>\n<p>If you are <strong>already serving or have finished NYSC<\/strong>, nothing changes for you &mdash; the reforms are not retroactive.
