Maastricht University NL-High Potential Scholarships for International Students
The Maastricht University (UM) NL-High Potential Scholarship programme provides 21 full scholarships worth €30,000 each academic year. These scholarships include a tuition fee waiver and monthly stipend, and are offered to highly talented students from non-EU/EEA countries who have been admitted to a Master’s programme at UM

Scholarship Value
The scholarship covers the following: Living expenses: €15,925 (13 months) or €30,625 (25 months). Health and liability insurance: €700. Visa application costs; At cost. Tuition fees; At cost. Pre-academic training costs; Included.
Scholarship Eligibility
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Hold nationality in a country outside the EU/EEA, Switzerland, or Suriname, and meet the requirements for a Dutch visa and residence permit.
- Not hold dual nationality from an EU/EEA country.
- Have applied for admission to a full-time Master’s programme at UM for the 2025-2026 academic year.
- Meet the specific admission requirements of the UM Master’s programme.
- Have never participated in a degree-seeking programme in the Netherlands (primary, secondary, or higher education). However, students who completed exchange programmes in the Netherlands may apply.
- Be under 35 years of age on 1 September 2025.
- Demonstrate excellent academic results, with a GPA of at least 7.5 out of 10.
- Ensure all documents meet the application requirements before submission, as no changes or additions can be made after submission.

Application Instructions
- Register for one of the participating Master’s programmes at Maastricht University via Studielink.
- Once registered, you will receive a student ID number, which is required to complete the scholarship application form.
- Log in with your UM account, fill in the scholarship application form, upload the required documents, and submit your application online.
