PTDF operates as a government-owned subsidiary of the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources. Its legal mandate is to advance and promote petroleum technology.<\/p>\n

Similarly, it was created to meet the oil and gas sector’s demand for trained personnel by funding academic study and providing professional development opportunities for Nigerians in relevant fields such as Engineering, Environmental Studies, Energy Studies, and Geological Sciences.<\/p>\n

PTDF Scholarship Scheme for Undergraduates and Postgraduates<\/h2>\n

There are two categories available in this scholarship scheme: Local or In-Country Scholarship Scheme (ISS) and Overseas Scholarship Scheme (OSS).<\/p>\n

Note:<\/strong> Only postgraduate candidates are eligible for overseas scholarships; undergraduate candidates can receive funding for study or awarded scholarships in any PTDF-approved Nigerian Federal Universities. Again, the scholarship will be awarded with restrictions to the course of study (available on the PTDF website<\/a><\/em>).<\/p>\n

PTDF In-Country Undergraduate and <\/strong>Postgraduate (Master’s & Ph.D.) <\/strong>Scholarship Scheme<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Applicants are to please note<\/strong><\/em> the following:<\/p>\n

  1. Applicants must have a National Identity Number (NIN) before applying for the scholarship. Applicants are to note that they will be required to verify their NIN before proceeding with the application (NIMC verification charges apply<\/em>).<\/li>\n
  2. Applicants who have benefitted from any of the PTDF scholarships in the past cannot apply for the same or lower category of degree.<\/li>\n
  3. Applicants who are beneficiaries of any other scholarship need not apply.<\/li>\n
  4. Application is restricted to Federal Universities and for specific courses<\/strong><\/em> only.<\/li>\n
  5. All applicants must possess a valid admission letter from the University.<\/li>\n
  6. Postgraduate applicant\u2019s admission letter should be within a validity period of 12 months<\/strong><\/em>.<\/li>\n
  7. Postgraduate applicants who meet the requirements shall be shortlisted for interviews before the final selection of successful candidates.<\/li>\n
  8. Undergraduate applicants must have completed their first year and are currently in their second year of studies.<\/li>\n
  9. Only undergraduate applicants undertaking studies in oil and gas-related fields (as advertised) will be considered. The final selection shall be based on grades on their transcripts (transcripts must be signed and stamped by the HOD\/Exams Officer or any authorized staff).<\/li>\n
  10. Admission for part-time studies shall not be considered for all categories of applications. The scholarship is highly competitive and merit driven. Selection of candidates shall be based on equitable representation of the 36 States of the Federation and FCT.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Criteria, Requirements and Selection Process for PTDF In-Country Scholarship Scheme (ISS)<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    The PTDF scholarship is highly competitive, and only the most qualified applicants will be selected. A selection panel will be constituted to assess applications using the following criteria:<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Academic merit as evidenced by the quality of degrees, full academic transcripts, other professional qualifications acquired, and relevant publications to be referenced by applicants.<\/li>\n
    2. Undergraduate and Postgraduate (MSc) applicants are required to make a case for their scholarship by submitting a statement of purpose stating the reason(s) they wish to undertake the study, the relevance of the proposed study to the industry and its expected impact on national development.<\/li>\n
    3. Ph.D. applicants are required to submit a research proposal of not more than Six<\/strong><\/em> (6) pages, including topic, introduction, literature review, research question(s), novelty, methodology, mode of data collection(s), expected outcome(s), relevance to the industry, and appropriate references.<\/li>\n
    4. Membership of professional bodies.<\/li>\n
    5. The viability of the study\/research plan (Ph.D. applicants only)<\/strong><\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      PTDF In-Country Undergraduate Scholarship Scheme<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n

      This scholarship scheme is for Nigerian Undergraduates who are currently in the 200-level at any of the PTDF-approved Nigerian Federal Universities. However, 300-level students may also try their luck, as there is nothing to lose.<\/p>\n

      Value\/Worth of Scholarship\/Inclusions:<\/strong><\/em> An annual allowance plus a laptop at first payment. PTDF does not publish the current allowance figure on the portal — confirm the amount for your cycle on scholarship.ptdf.gov.ng\/guidelines<\/a> before planning around it.<\/p>\n

      Scholarship Duration:<\/strong><\/em> The Scholarship award is renewed annually until the completion of the undergraduate program, provided the student’s CGPA doesn\u2019t fall below the required minimum CGPA.<\/p>\n

      1. Applicants must be full-time students in any of the PTDF-approved Federal Universities.<\/li>\n
      2. Applicants must be in their second year of study.<\/li>\n

      4. Applicants must possess Five<\/strong><\/em> (5) credits in WAEC\/SSCE\/NECO<\/strong><\/em>, including English Language and Mathematics.<\/li>\n
      5. Applicants should provide their transcripts for the first year of study (transcripts must be signed and stamped by the HOD\/Exams Officer or any authorized staff).<\/li>\n
      6. Applicants must possess a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.5 on a scale of 5.00 or 3.0 on a scale of 4.00, which is equivalent to 2.1 in their first year.<\/li>\n
