Prof. Miri Receives Award as Worthy Ambassador of UJAA

The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University Lokoja, Professor Angela Freeman Miri has been conferred with a notable award as Worthy Ambassador of University of Jos Alumni Association (UJAA). The event which took place at Yar’adua Center, Abuja during the first Mega UNIJOS Re-union and Dinner to mark the commencement of the construction of the UNIJOS Alumni Center, witnessed the presence of dignitaries from different parts of the country.
Among the distinguished personalities honoured at the event was the Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara as an Outstanding Ambassador of UJAA.  Also honoured in the category of Worthy Ambassador of UJAA was the Chief of Staff to the Kogi State Governor, Chief Edward Onoja. Other awardees were Governors, Deputy Governors, Ministers, Senators, Vice-Chancellors, Speaker of a State House of Assembly, State Heads of Service, Secretaries to State Government, Chief Executive Officers, Managing Directors, Clergyman, and a Traditional Ruler amongst others.
While presenting the award to Professor Miri, the Vice-Chancellor of University of Jos, Professor Seddi S. Maimako said, he was happy and proud to present the award on behalf of the Alumni Association noting that the University of Jos is also very proud of her. Professor Maimako said, the award was given in recognition of her outstanding leadership qualities, exemplary representation of her alma mater, enormous contributions to the University of Jos and Nigeria in general, being a very sound scholar with excellent performance and achievements both within the academic and public domains.
In her remark, the Vice-Chancellor, who received the award in company of all the Principal Officers of Federal University Lokoja, expressed joy and appreciation to the organizers for considering her worthy of the award which she said will remain indelible in her heart.  She reiterated her unflinching support and full commitment to represent UNIJOS anywhere she goes, stating that she would never forget the University that made her who she is today.
In her words, Professor Miri said, “I want to dedicate this award to Federal University Lokoja so as to ensure that the quality of hard work (through the grace of God) that has taken me to this level will be translated into the development of Federal University Lokoja so that it will stand out among the comity of Universities not only in Nigeria and Africa but in the entire world”.
