Global Minds Doctoral Scholarships Programme at KU Leuven
KU Leuven, Belgium’s largest university, offers Global Minds PhD Scholarships as part of its commitment to development cooperation. Each year, exceptional students from developing countries are selected to pursue a PhD through a “sandwich” model: 50% of the research is conducted at KU Leuven and 50% at the scholar’s home institution under the guidance of a local co-promoter. The PhD degree is awarded by KU Leuven

Scholarship Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Be a citizen of one of the eligible countries listed above.
- Not hold citizenship or a long-term residence permit in the EU.
- Hold a Master’s degree awarded within the past ten years (not before 2015).
- Have achieved an academic grade equivalent to High Distinction or higher.
Note: Degrees with a final score equivalent to second class second/lower division are not eligible. - Submit a research proposal of excellent academic quality with strong development relevance.
