The Senate of Lagos State University (LASU) has officially ended its industrial action, paving the way for the resumption of academic and social activities across all campuses.
This decision followed the resolution of the university’s Joint Action Committee (JAC) after a meeting with Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, last Thursday.
In a statement signed by the Deputy Registrar and Coordinator of the Centre for Information and Public Relations, Thomas-Onashile Oluwayemisi, the Senate announced that activities will resume from Wednesday, August 13, 2025.
According to the statement, students will be allowed to return to their hostels on all LASU campuses in Ojo, Ikeja, and Epe on the same date. Furthermore, the 2024/2025 Second Semester Examinations—earlier suspended due to the strike—will commence on Monday, August 18, 2025.
“Students are advised to return promptly and prepare adequately for the examinations,” the statement read.
The Senate’s decision came after reviewing updates from the Vice-Chancellor regarding the meeting with the Deputy Governor.
It will be recalled that LASU’s Senate had, during a virtual session on Saturday, August 2, 2025, suspended all academic and social activities following the JAC of Staff Unions’ declaration of an industrial action on Thursday, July 31, 2025.
