NOUN Study Centres: What They Do and How to Change Yours

NOUN runs 128 study centres nationwide, per nou.edu.ng. You choose one when you apply, and it is where your exams, screening, facilitation and certificate collection happen. To change centre, collect a Change of Study Centre form at your current centre, get it signed and stamped, and upload it on the e-ticket platform under Academic Registry.

What a study centre does

NOUN is a distance university, but it is not a purely online one. The study centre is the physical side of your programme:

• Screening of new students: your original O’level results and certificates are checked against what you uploaded.
• Facilitation: scheduled tutorial sessions each semester (13 July to 6 September for 2026_2), alongside the online sessions on eLearn.
• Examinations: pen-on-paper papers are written at the centre; e-exams are taken on the centre’s computers.
• Orientation and matriculation for new students, held at the centre on the calendar dates (8 and 9 September 2026 for 2026_2).
• ICT officer: password resets, dropping a registered course, portal problems that an e-ticket cannot fix.
• Accountant: wallet payments that do not reflect after Check RRR and Credit RRR.
• Faculty desk officer: your registrable course list, change of programme or entry level.
• Project and SIWES desks: supervisor allocation, logbook collection, SIWES placement letters.
• Printed course materials and library for students who want hard copies of the free e-courseware PDFs.
• Certificate collection: certificates are distributed at the centres for two weeks after each convocation.

Finding the list of study centres

The official list with addresses and phone numbers is on nou.edu.ng under Study Centres, and the same list appears as a drop-down when you choose a centre on the application form. We do not reproduce addresses here because centres relocate and phone numbers change; use the live list. As a rule every state capital has at least one centre, Lagos and Abuja have several, and there are special centres inside some correctional facilities (56 inmates graduated at the 15th convocation in April 2026) and the headquarters in Jabi, Abuja.

How to change your study centre

These are the four steps from NOUN’s official FAQ:

1. Visit your current study centre.
2. Obtain and fill a Change of Study Centre form.
3. Make sure it is duly signed and stamped.
4. Upload a scan of the signed and stamped form on the e-ticket platform under the Academic Registry category, and wait for the response.

Apply between semesters, not during an exam window: your exam venue follows your registered centre, and a change that lands mid-semester can leave you registered at one centre and expecting to write at another. Keep the ticket number until the new centre shows on your portal.

Choosing a centre when you apply

• Exam venue first: distance to the exam venue matters more than distance to home. You will travel there for every pen-on-paper paper and every e-exam sitting, plus screening and matriculation.
• Programme support: programmes with practicals or clinical attachments (Sciences, Health Sciences) need a centre with the facilities; ask the centre before you pick it.
• Working students: pick the centre near your workplace if exams fall on weekdays.
• Corps members and people relocating: apply with the centre where you will be for the next two semesters, then use the change form if you move.

Certificates and the headquarters

Certificates are collected at your study centre during the two-week distribution window after convocation. Miss it and you collect at the Academic Registry office at NOUN headquarters in Abuja, with the clearance form obtained from your study centre. Before convocation you can apply for a statement of result at transcript.nou.edu.ng instead.
