How to Apply to NOUN: Requirements, Application Fee and Steps

NOUN admission is open every day of the year, needs no JAMB UTME and has no acceptance fee. You apply on nouonline.nou.edu.ng, pay the application fee through Remita (₦5,000 for undergraduates as commonly quoted; the portal shows the exact figure), upload your credentials and get a decision on the portal. Undergraduates need five O’level credits including English and Mathematics.

Who can apply

Programme-specific subject requirements (for example Nursing, Law, Accounting, Computer Science) appear on the portal once you pick the programme under “Am I qualified”. The BNSc Nursing programme is a top-up for registered nurses and requires a valid RN certificate. Application fee

The fee is paid through Remita only and is not refundable. NOUN’s own procedure page does not print the amount; the portal displays it at the pre-payment step, so treat that figure as the correct one.

How to apply, step by step

This is the official sequence from NOUN’s portal guide. Click Home on the portal before you start.

1. Open nouonline.nou.edu.ng and click Admission.
2. Click Am I qualified, select the faculty, department, programme and level, and click Next. The portal shows the entry requirement for that programme.
3. Go back to Admission and click Apply for admission. Click Yes to confirm you have checked your credentials against the requirement.
4. Select or enter every option on the pre-payment form (name, email, phone, NIN, programme, preferred study centre) and click Next.
5. Click Details confirmed after checking what is displayed, then re-confirm the payment details and click Make payment.
6. On the Remita page confirm the information and click Submit. Choose card, bank branch, USSD or internet banking. If you pay by card, enter the OTP and do not touch the keyboard or mouse until the portal returns you to the NOUN page.
7. If you paid at a bank, return to the portal, click Continue after payment and enter your Unique ID and the RRR.
8. Fill the application form. Every field marked with a red star is compulsory.
9. Upload scanned copies of your O’level results (and degree or diploma certificates for higher entry) and a passport photograph.
10. Submit. Your admission or application status shows on the same portal page.

After you are admitted

1. Print the admission letter from the portal.
2. Load your e-wallet through Remita and pay the first-semester compulsory fees: ₦55,500 for new undergraduates, ₦61,000 for new PGD and Masters students. There is no separate acceptance fee; registering and paying for the semester is what activates your studentship and matric number. Full breakdown on the NOUN school fees page.
3. Register the semester, your courses and exams on the portal. The steps are in the NOUN student portal guide.
4. Go to your study centre for screening with the original certificates you uploaded. Bring the admission letter, printed application form and payment receipts.
5. Matriculation is held each semester; for 2026_2 it is 9 September 2026. Dates are in the NOUN academic calendar.

Verifying your O’level results

Your first-semester fees include a ₦10,000 result-verification charge, and your original results are screened at the study centre. You will also need your own result checker PIN to print the result you upload: WAEC and NECO checker PINs are sold at pay.awajis.com and delivered instantly.

Do not pay anyone to “process” your admission

• NOUN has no admission agents, no acceptance fee and no “screening fee” outside the official schedule.
• Every payment is a Remita RRR generated on the portal in your own name. If a payment request comes as a personal account number or a POS transfer, it is not NOUN.
• Complaints go through the e-ticket platform at support.nou.edu.ng or the NOUN Information Call Centre, +234 908 290 7092, centralinfo@noun.edu.ng.

Thinking of Law?

NOUN’s LL.B is accredited by the NUC and the Council of Legal Education, but the admission of NOUN law graduates into the Nigerian Law School has been contested for years. As of July 2026 more than 4,000 graduates were still waiting for placement and had protested at the Attorney-General’s office. Confirm the current Law School position before you choose the programme.

Is NOUN admission form out?

Yes, permanently. NOUN runs a rolling admission: the form is available on nouonline.nou.edu.ng every day of the year and you join the next semester’s intake.

How much is the NOUN admission form?

₦5,000 for undergraduate and direct entry, ₦7,500 for PGD and Masters and ₦10,000 for PhD, as commonly quoted. The portal shows the exact amount before you pay.

Does NOUN require JAMB?

No. NOUN runs its own admission process. You only need the O’level credits or the higher qualification for your entry level. New undergraduates pay a ₦7,500 JAMB regularisation fee inside the first-semester fees.

Can I use two sittings for NOUN admission?

Yes. Five credits including English and Mathematics from at most two sittings of WAEC, NECO, NABTEB or GCE.

How do I accept NOUN admission?

There is no acceptance fee or acceptance button. Paying your first-semester compulsory fees through the portal e-wallet accepts the offer and issues your matric number.

How long does NOUN admission take?

Your application status shows on the portal after you submit; screening of your original certificates happens at the study centre afterwards.
