- The LExS program offers three types of awards: €10,000 of the tuition fee. €15,000 of the tuition fee. Full tuition fee minus the statutory tuition fee. Note: The LExS is not a full scholarship. Non-EEA recipients must provide proof of sufficient funds for their student visa/residence permit application.

About
The Leiden University Excellence Scholarship Programme (LExS) is aimed at exceptional non-EEA/non-EFTA students seeking to pursue a full-time Master’s degree at Leiden University, excluding certain programs such as Leiden Law School’s non-advanced LLM and MSc programs, as well as study programs starting in February at the Faculty of Humanities, the Faculty of Sciences, and Leiden Law School.
Eligibility
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Achieve excellent results in prior education, placing them among the top 10% of graduates in their previous program (proof of ranking is not required).
- Hold a non-EEA/non-EFTA passport and not qualify for Dutch study grants and loans (Studiefinanciering), except for applicants to LLM Advanced Studies or MSc in International Relations and Diplomacy.

- Apply online for admission to a Master’s program at Leiden University.
- If eligible for the LExS, the scholarship option will appear in the scholarships section of the online application system.
- Clearly indicate your interest in the LExS scholarship and upload a motivation letter as part of the application.
