A United Kingdom–based education consultant, Benson Adeeso, has announced plans to significantly expand Nigerian admissions into foreign universities in 2026.
He revealed the plan while speaking with journalists in Lagos. The disclosure followed a review of his firm’s 2025 recruitment outcomes.
80 Nigerians Secured Foreign Admissions in 2025
Adeeso confirmed that more than 80 Nigerian students gained admission abroad in 2025. The placements covered multiple global destinations.
“The projection we have for 2026 is to recruit times three more of what we did in 2025.
“We have been able to recruit about 80 students between January and now. We have two in-takes in a year – May and September.
“We actually gave admissions to these students in different countries of United Kingdom, New Zealand, Ireland, America, Canada and Switzerland” He said.
He added that predictable admission cycles help students plan better.
Why Studying Abroad Remains Attractive
Adeeso explained that foreign universities offer stability and consistency. He stressed that academic calendars abroad rarely suffer disruptions.
While speaking on the value of education, he said:
“Having a sound education cannot but be overemphasized. You will be able to know your left from your right if you are educated. You will be able to defend yourself bearing in mind the rules and regulations.
“Schooling abroad is good because you can actually finish within three years. And then, If you want to return back home you can start your life or you want to stay. What is important is that you have a degree that is internationally recognized.”
He also raised concerns about certificate credibility. “Some of the Universities that I have worked with in the UK do not have confidence in the certificates we bring from Nigeria. I dont know why but it is not for me to answer.”
Education Strikes Under Scrutiny
The consultant urged Nigerian authorities to reform the education system. He called for an end to frequent strike actions.
“I would urge the Education Minister to adopt the good practice obtainable in the UK for example. There should be nothing like Strike nor demonstration.
“The consequences of strike action are enormous on the students. The Students wont be able to graduate when they are supposed to. There will be lack of concentration. It discourages a lot of students from going to the University.”
Education analysts have repeatedly linked strikes to declining academic outcomes.
Message to Nigerian Youths
Adeeso described education as essential for personal development and survival.
“Education is a basic necessity for every person. You will be able to know your left from your right if you are educated. You will be able to defend yourself bearing in mind the rules and regulations.
“I would encourage every young adult out there to strive on and follow up till the end.”
Ultimately, he assured young Nigerians that commitment to education brings long-term rewards.
