The newly elected President of the Adekunle Ajasin University Students’ Union, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, Folagbade Greatness Ayoola, popularly known as “Greatness of AAUASU,” has appointed about 40 aides and special advisers days after taking office.
The appointments were contained in a memo issued from the Office of the Students’ Union President and obtained on Wednesday. According to the document, the appointments were intended to strengthen administrative coordination within the union government.
The memo stated that the appointments were made “to ensure top-notch administration and proper effectiveness of the AAUASU presidency.” It further noted that all the appointees had been “screened and deemed fit to perform well in these responsibilities.”
Chief of Staff, media aides unveiled
Among those appointed was Olayinka Oluwaferanmi Emmanuel, who emerged as Chief of Staff. Similarly, Oluwafemi Olalekan Israel was named Deputy Chief of Staff. The president also appointed Omotunwase Success Ayomide as Senior Personal Assistant to the President.
In addition, Obagaye Micheal was named Personal Assistant II to the President. Olaleye Kausara emerged as Secretary to the President, while Ajileye Henry Olawale was appointed Chief Press Secretary.
Furthermore, the administration created several directorate positions to oversee different sectors of student affairs. The offices include Director of Protocol, Director of Media and Publicity, Director of Travels and Exchange, and Director of Gender. Others are Director of Photography and Videography as well as Director of Housing, Agents and Accommodations.
Administration creates multiple adviser roles
Meanwhile, a significant number of the appointments were for special adviser positions. The memo read in part, “Special advisers were appointed on Strategy, Special Duties, Logistics, Academic Affairs, Christianity and Spiritual Matters, Union Projects, Health Services, Social Media Engagements, Female Sensitisation and Women Affairs, Associations and Mobility, Campus Transportation, and Sports and Recreation.”
It added that other portfolios included “External Affairs, Sanitation, Presidential Movements and Physical Fitness, Letters and Documentation, Graphics and Content Creation, Budgeting and Finance, Law and Constitutional Matters, Students’ Welfare, Islamic Affairs, Political Matters, Fundraising and Sponsorships, Information and Communication Technology, and Security Affairs.”
Security appointments announced
The administration also confirmed security-related appointments within the union structure.
According to the memo, the position of ADC 1 (IPCC) has already been filled. However, the offices of ADC 2 (Man O War) and ADC 3 (Cadet Corps) are yet to be occupied.
The development has since generated conversations among students, especially over the number of appointments announced shortly after the new administration assumed office.
