A student of Lagos State University (LASU) has moved many Nigerians to tears after sharing his life story online.
In a viral clip posted on TikTok, the young man identified as Victor revealed that he is a first-class student with a 4.78 CGPA. However, despite his academic excellence, he sleeps inside a shop with his family.
The video quickly gained traction and was widely shared on X, where users praised his resilience.
A Brilliant Student Facing Harsh Reality
At the beginning of the interview, Victor confidently introduced himself. He mentioned his CGPA and his status as a first-class student.
However, he then opened up about his living condition.
He said: “I’m a first-class student with a 4.78 CGPA. I saw the situation of my home, and I was like, I need to change things because my mom, my siblings, and I stay in a shop. We sleep in a shop; we don’t have a home of our own.”
His revelation shocked many viewers. Nevertheless, he spoke calmly and with determination.
“We Dey Manage Small Small” – Mother Speaks
In addition, Victor’s mother appeared in the video. She explained how the family survives daily.
According to her, she combines tailoring with selling sachet water and drinks. Meanwhile, her husband works as a gateman in a school.
She said: “I’m trying. I’m a tailor; I sell pure water and drinks. We dey manage small small. My husband is a gateman at a school; he supports us and earns monthly. They pay him 30,000.”
Clearly, the income is not enough to provide proper housing. As a result, the family lives and sleeps in the shop.
Tears, Teaching, and Tireless Effort
Despite the hardship, Victor refused to give up. Instead, he focused on his studies and personal growth.
He admitted that the situation often overwhelmed him emotionally.
He said: “Sometimes, I would cry all night. Everything happens like that, but I was able to concentrate on my studies because I believe that if I still put in my best, I’ll be able to change the situation at home, even for myself.”
Furthermore, he revealed that he teaches fellow students regularly. Many of them had no idea about his struggles.
He added: “I teach people without even telling them what I’m going through. I’ll teach in the morning, teach in the afternoon, even in the evening, while I walk down to where I want to go and sleep in the church. I never told anybody what’s happening to me. I thank God.”
Indeed, his discipline and resilience have inspired many.
