
The management of the Federal University Wukari (FUWUKARI), Taraba State, has announced the postponement of its 15th Matriculation Ceremony earlier scheduled for Saturday, June 20, 2026.
The institution disclosed the development in an official notice addressed to newly admitted students, staff, parents, guardians, and members of the university community.
According to the management, the decision became necessary following adjustments to the university’s administrative schedule.
“This adjustment to the academic calendar has become necessary due to administrative adjustments designed to ensure a seamless and successful ceremony for all stakeholders.”
The matriculation ceremony is a significant academic event that formally admits fresh students into the university community. Therefore, the institution said additional preparations were required to guarantee a smooth exercise.
New Date and Venue Announced
Meanwhile, the university has approved a new schedule for the ceremony. According to the notice, the matriculation exercise will now hold as follows:
- New Date: Saturday, July 11, 2026
- Primary Venue: Convocation Square, Federal University Wukari
- Alternative Venue: Prof. Geoffrey Okogbaa Lecture Theatre
- Time: 10:00 a.m. prompt
Consequently, all concerned stakeholders are advised to update their plans and make arrangements based on the revised date.
Fresh Students Advised to Arrive Early
Furthermore, the management directed all matriculating students to comply strictly with the logistical arrangements put in place for the event.
The notice emphasized that participants must be fully prepared before the commencement of the ceremony.
“All newly admitted students are strictly advised to take note of the following logistical arrangements to ensure orderliness during the event.”
As part of the requirements, students are expected to arrive at the venue early and be properly dressed in their academic gowns.
“Arrival Time: All matriculating students are expected to be fully dressed in their academic gowns and properly seated at the venue by 9:00am.”
In addition, the university warned against late arrival, noting that all ceremonial activities would begin ahead of the official start time.
“Compliance: Processions and seating arrangements will commence exactly an hour before the main event. Late arrival will not be tolerated.”
Management Expresses Regret Over Change
While announcing the postponement, the university acknowledged the inconvenience the change may cause to students, parents, sponsors, and invited guests who had already made travel and other logistical arrangements.
“The University Management deeply regrets any inconvenience this sudden change in date may cause to our new students, their sponsors, and invited guests who have already initiated travel or logistical plans for the initial date.”
Nevertheless, the institution appealed for understanding and cooperation from all affected parties.

The management reiterated its commitment to ensuring a memorable and well-organized matriculation ceremony for the university’s newest students.
“We appreciate your understanding, cooperation, and compliance as we prepare to officially welcome the newest cohort into our prestigious institution.”
