The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the deadline for candidates with outstanding admission offers from the 2021 to 2025 admission exercises to accept or reject the offers on the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).

The new deadline is November 30, 2026, giving affected candidates additional time to resolve admission offers that remain pending on their JAMB records. The Board described the extension as a final opportunity for candidates in the affected category to take action on their outstanding offers.

JAMB announced the extension through its official X account, urging candidates to log into their CAPS profiles, check their admission status and indicate whether they intend to accept or reject any outstanding offer.

Why JAMB Extended the Deadline

The latest extension follows an earlier deadline of September 30, 2026. JAMB had previously extended the deadline to give candidates more time to deal with unresolved admission offers from previous admission exercises.

The Board said the CAPS platform experienced a temporary disruption that affected access for about 96 hours. The additional two months will therefore give affected candidates another opportunity to access the system and complete the required process.

The extension, however, does not apply to every candidate admitted between 2021 and 2025. It is specifically targeted at candidates whose admission offers from those admission exercises remain outstanding because they have neither accepted nor rejected the offers on CAPS.

What Affected Candidates Should Do

Candidates who believe they fall within the affected category should log into their JAMB e-Facility accounts and access the CAPS admission-status section to determine whether an outstanding offer is still displayed.

Where an offer is available, candidates should carefully review the institution and programme before choosing whether to accept or reject it. Candidates who accept an offer can then proceed with the relevant admission documentation, while those who do not want the offer should formally reject it through the prescribed CAPS process.

Candidates should not rely solely on an old admission list, admission notification from an institution or information previously received from a school. What matters for the purpose of this exercise is the status of the offer on the candidate’s JAMB record.

This is because admission processing involves both the institution and JAMB. An institution’s offer does not necessarily mean that the candidate’s admission has been formally accepted and recorded on CAPS.

What Happens After November 30?

JAMB has warned that candidates who fail to act before the new deadline will face a change in their admission records.

According to the Board, any outstanding offer from the affected 2021–2025 admission exercises that remains neither accepted nor rejected after November 30, 2026, will revert to “Not Admitted” on JAMB’s records.

Candidates should therefore not assume that an old outstanding offer will remain available indefinitely simply because it has been displayed on CAPS for several years.

The deadline is particularly important for candidates who have moved on to another institution or programme but still have an unresolved previous admission showing on their JAMB records. Such candidates should review their records and take the appropriate action rather than leaving the old offer unresolved.

JAMB had also clarified in its earlier guidance that candidates who have already secured admission for the 2026 admission exercise would not have that admission affected merely because they reject an outstanding offer from an earlier admission year.

However, candidates with complicated admission histories, including those who have changed institutions or programmes, should seek clarification from JAMB before making a decision that could affect their records.

Candidates Should Act Before the Deadline

The November 30 deadline gives affected candidates two months beyond the previous September 30 cut-off to resolve their outstanding offers. Candidates should therefore check their CAPS status as soon as possible rather than waiting until the final day.

Those who encounter problems accessing their records or processing their decision should use JAMB’s official support channels to seek assistance.

The key point is that the new deadline concerns outstanding admission offers from 2021 to 2025 that have not been accepted or rejected on CAPS. After November 30, JAMB says such unresolved offers will revert to “Not Admitted” on its records.

Candidates affected by the notice should therefore check their CAPS accounts and take the required action before the deadline.
