The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has activated the 2026 change of institution and course process for UTME candidates.
As a result, candidates seeking to switch institutions or programmes can now begin the process at accredited CBT centres nationwide.
In a statement issued by JAMB spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, Ph.D., the Board said: “Candidates wishing to change their institution or programme of choice may now proceed to do so visiting any of the Board’s approved CBT.”
The examination body also advised applicants against using unapproved centres.
According to the statement:“Applicants are advised to visit any accredited CBT centre to effect the changes.”
Candidates Urged to Use Accredited CBT Centres
Meanwhile, education stakeholders have continued to urge candidates to carefully review admission requirements before making changes.
Candidates are expected to confirm their preferred institution’s cut-off mark and subject requirements before proceeding. In addition, applicants should ensure their chosen course is available in the new institution.
JAMB usually allows candidates to change institutions or courses after UTME results are released. The process is done through the Board’s correction of data platform.
Furthermore, several admission experts have advised candidates to avoid rushing the process. Instead, they should compare their scores with likely admission benchmarks.
Original UTME Result Slip Printing Begins May 18
In another update, JAMB announced that printing of the original 2026 UTME result slip will begin on Monday, May 18, 2026.
The Board stated: “Furthermore, the printing of the original 2026 UTME result slip will commence on Monday, 18th May, 2026.”
The original UTME result slip remains an important admission document. It is often required during Post-UTME registration, clearance, and screening exercises.
Unlike the notification slip, the original result slip contains the candidate’s passport photograph and other official details.
What Candidates Should Know
Although the change of institution portal is now active, candidates are expected to proceed carefully.
Experts recommend that applicants consider schools where their UTME scores are competitive. They should also monitor admission updates from their preferred institutions.
In most cases, the correction process attracts a service charge and is handled at JAMB-approved CBT centres.
