According to confirmed reports, the tricycle rider—Fidelis Zakka of Agyarangu Tasha in Obi LGA—was conveying female passengers from Kayarda (Obi LGA) toward the campus when the collision occurred near the speed bumps just outside the school. Witnesses say Nweke was crossing the road with friends when she was hit. She was first taken to the FULafia Clinic and later referred to the National Hospital, Abuja, where she died while receiving treatment.

Police Arrest Rider, Impound Tricycle

The Nasarawa Police Command confirmed the arrest of the tricycle rider and the seizure of the vehicle at the ‘A’ Division, Lafia. Authorities say investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause and circumstances surrounding the accident.

Campus in Grief, Safety Concerns Rise

News of Nweke’s passing has sparked grief across campus. Thus renewed urgent calls for stricter speed enforcement, better road signage, and marshalled crossings at the university gate. Students note that while the speed bumps were intended to slow vehicles, driver negligence still puts pedestrians in danger—especially during busy hours.
