UNIBEN Announces Screening Results, Opens 2025/2026 Admission Window

The University of Benin (UNIBEN) has released the results of its Post-UTME and Direct Entry (DE) screening exercise, officially opening the 2025/2026 admission process.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, UNIBEN’s Public Relations Officer, Dr. Benedicta Ehanire, confirmed that the results have been uploaded to candidates’ portals and urged applicants to begin monitoring their admission status.

“The admission process has now commenced and will run in line with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) timetable, which closes on October 31,” Ehanire explained. “Candidates are advised to disregard any ‘NOT ADMITTED’ message they currently see on their slips, as this is only provisional.”

Eligibility and Next Steps

According to the university, candidates who scored 50 percent and above in the screening exercise are eligible for admission consideration. Faculty-specific cut-off marks will be announced in the coming weeks as the process advances.

Admission is expected to be released in batches, with merit lists preceding catchment and supplementary lists. The institution also reminded applicants that all procedures must be completed strictly through the official UNIBEN portal.

Timetable Aligns with National Calendar as Candidates React

A senior official at the JAMB office in Benin, who spoke to our correspondent, confirmed that UNIBEN’s schedule aligns with the national admission calendar.

“All universities are expected to complete admissions before the end of October, to ensure a smooth academic session starting early next year,” the official said.

Some candidates who checked their results on Tuesday expressed mixed feelings.

“I scored 62 percent, so I’m hopeful,” said Grace Osagie, a prospective Medicine student. “But the waiting period for admission lists is always stressful.”

Another candidate, John Adeyemi, applying through Direct Entry, called for transparency. “We just want the process to be fair. The portal should give updates more frequently so we don’t rely on rumours.”

How to Check Results

Applicants are to log in to the official UNIBEN portal with their credentials to view results and follow admission updates.
