The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the deadline for the 2026 Direct Entry (DE) registration to May 8, 2026. The extension replaces the earlier closing date and offers candidates additional time to complete their applications.
Extension Targets Wider Access to Tertiary Education
The Board said the decision was driven by its commitment to inclusivity. It aims to ensure that no eligible candidate is excluded due to time limitations.
As stated in the official release; “As part of measures aimed at ensuring that no Direct Entry prospective candidate is denied the opportunity to access tertiary education in the country, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the sale of Direct Entry (DE) application documents to 8th May 2026 from the earlier closing date.”

Five Additional Centres Approved to Ease Registration Pressure

- Centre for Open and Distance Learning (CODL), Mini Campus, University of Ilorin, Kwara State.
- Bells University of Technology, Km 8, Idiroko Road, Ota, Ogun State.
- Centre 1, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun State.
- Prof. Usman E-Learning Centre, Federal College of Education Special Oyo, Oyo State.
- Human Development Initiatives (Grace House), Iwaya, Sabo, Lagos State (to commence operations from April 30, 2026).
These centres are strategically positioned to improve accessibility for candidates across key locations.
Nationwide Registration Ongoing at Accredited Centres
Meanwhile, JAMB confirmed that registration is still ongoing nationwide. Accredited facilities remain open and fully operational.
The Board reiterated, “Prospective candidates are once again reminded that the Board’s offices nationwide( Professional Registration Centres (PRCs) and Professional Testing Centres(PTCs) remain open for the ongoing 2026 Direct Entry registration.”
