The Ogun State Police Command has opened an official investigation into the abrupt death of Akawa Boluwatife Samuel, a 20‑year‑old fresh Information Technology graduate from Babcock University.

Circumstances of the Incident

Boluwatife was brought to the Babcock University Teaching Hospital by his roommates on Wednesday, where attending medical staff confirmed his death. According to security analyst and counter‑insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, sources within the university disclosed that Boluwatife had complained of feeling cold and experiencing breathing difficulties on July 27, and was encouraged to seek care at the campus medical centre.

Final Days on Campus

The deceased and his roommates were on campus to complete clearance formalities ahead of graduation before he was set to return home. Makama noted that Boluwatife had been in good spirits the previous evening and was seen playing games on his laptop until around 11:00 p.m., but was found unresponsive by morning.

Detectives visited the hostel and interviewed a roommate, Adili Leonard Chimdindu, who recounted Boluwatife’s symptoms. Photographs of the deceased were taken, and a formal statement was obtained from his elder brother, Akawa Toluwanimi John.
