
The State University of Medical and Applied Sciences (SUMAS), Igbo-Eno, Enugu State, has commenced the sale of Post-UTME, Direct Entry (DE), and Inter-University Transfer application forms for the 2026/2027 academic session.
The admission screening exercise is open to candidates who scored at least 150 in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and selected SUMAS as their first-choice institution. Interested applicants have until Friday, July 31, 2026, to complete their registration.
Candidates who did not initially choose SUMAS as their first-choice institution but wish to be considered for admission must first effect a change of institution to SUMAS through JAMB before proceeding with the application.
About SUMAS
The State University of Medical and Applied Sciences (SUMAS) is a specialised public university established by the Enugu State Government to provide training in medical, health, engineering, and applied science disciplines.
Who Can Apply?
Applications are invited from:
- Candidates who sat for the 2026 UTME, scored at least 150, and selected SUMAS as their first-choice institution.
- Direct Entry candidates who selected SUMAS.
- Candidates seeking admission through Inter-University Transfer.
- Candidates who are willing to change their first-choice institution to SUMAS through JAMB.
Direct Entry and transfer applicants must ensure they select the appropriate admission category during registration.
SUMAS Post-UTME Cut-Off Mark
The minimum UTME score required for participation in the 2026/2027 admission screening exercise is 150.
Only candidates who meet or exceed this score and satisfy all other admission requirements will be considered.
General Admission Requirements
All applicants must:
- Be at least 16 years old on or before September 30, 2026.
- Score a minimum of 150 in the 2026 UTME.
- Possess at least five credit passes in WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, or an equivalent examination.
- Have credits in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, and two other relevant subjects.
- Upload their O’Level results on JAMB CAPS.
- Pay the non-refundable application fee of ₦2,000.
For Medicine and Surgery, all required O’Level credits must be obtained in one sitting.
For all other programmes, candidates may combine results from not more than two sittings.
Direct Entry Requirements
Medicine and Surgery
Candidates seeking Direct Entry admission into Medicine and Surgery must possess either:
- A first degree with a minimum of Second Class Upper Division (2:1) from a recognised institution, or
- An HND with Upper Credit in a relevant discipline.
Other Programmes
Candidates applying for Direct Entry admission into other programmes must possess:
- A first degree with at least Second Class Lower Division, or
- An OND, HND, or equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.
All Direct Entry qualifications must be verified and cleared through the JAMB e-Facility platform by the awarding institution.
How to Apply for SUMAS Post-UTME
Applicants should:
1. Visit the SUMAS admission portal. https://samp.sumas.edu.ng/
2. Click on the application link and carefully read the instructions provided.
3. Complete all required sections of the application form.
4. Pay the non-refundable application fee of ₦2,000.
5. Use their JAMB Registration Number as the payment narration.
6. Submit the completed application form online.
Candidates should note that only one application is permitted. Multiple applications may lead to disqualification.
Important Information for Applicants
Applicants must ensure that the information provided on the SUMAS portal corresponds exactly with the details on JAMB CAPS.
The following information must match:
- JAMB Registration Number
- Date of Birth
- State of Origin
- Programme of Choice
Only candidates whose programme selection on JAMB CAPS corresponds with the programme selected on the SUMAS portal will be considered for admission.
O’Level Upload Requirement
Uploading O’Level results on JAMB CAPS is compulsory for all applicants.
Accepted qualifications include:
- WAEC
- NECO
- NABTEB
- Other recognised equivalent qualifications
Candidates who fail to upload their O’Level results on JAMB CAPS will not be considered for admission.
