Taraba State Polytechnic, Suntai, is set to make history as it prepares to hold its first-ever convocation ceremony, bringing together graduates from three decades in a landmark celebration of academic excellence and institutional growth.
The Polytechnic’s management announced that the maiden convocation ceremony, approved by the Executive Governor of Taraba State, will take place from Thursday, July 30, to Saturday, August 1, 2026.
The three-day event will mark a defining moment in the institution’s history, as it celebrates graduates produced between 1995 and 2025, making it the first convocation since the Polytechnic’s establishment.
Graduates from Three Decades to Receive Recognition
According to the management, the convocation will officially honour all eligible graduates from the institution’s inception in 1995 through the 2025 academic year.
One of the highlights of the ceremony will be the presentation of certificates to graduands, including members of the pioneer sets, in recognition of the successful completion of their academic programmes.
The event is also expected to celebrate the institution’s remarkable journey over the years, showcasing its achievements in technical and vocational education and its contribution to producing skilled manpower for Taraba State and Nigeria.
Management Calls for Active Participation
To ensure a successful maiden convocation, the management has directed all Deans, Heads of Departments (HODs), and Unit Heads to adequately inform members of staff and students within their respective faculties, departments, and units.
The Polytechnic urged the entire academic community, alumni, stakeholders, and invited guests to actively participate in the ceremony and contribute to making the historic occasion a memorable success.
A Defining Moment for Taraba State Polytechnic
The maiden convocation represents more than the conferment of certificates. It symbolises over three decades of resilience, academic progress, and the institution’s enduring commitment to quality technical and vocational education.
For many alumni particularly members of the pioneer graduating sets the ceremony will provide a long-awaited opportunity to reunite with classmates, celebrate their achievements, and reconnect with their alma mater.
While the Polytechnic has confirmed the convocation dates, details of the full programme of events, venue arrangements, and other logistics are expected to be released in subsequent official announcements.
As anticipation continues to build, the maiden convocation is expected to stand out as one of the most significant events in the history of Taraba State Polytechnic, celebrating the accomplishments of thousands of graduates while ushering the institution into a new chapter of growth and excellence.
