The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has suspended the selection of examination towns in Ekiti State. The board disclosed this decision in a statement issued on Tuesday.
According to JAMB, the suspension affects candidates registering for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). It explained that the action is temporary and aimed at restructuring examination towns within the state.
Why the Suspension Became Necessary
Ordinarily, candidates are allowed to choose examination towns closest to their locations. However, JAMB said the 2026 UTME registration began before certain structural anomalies were detected in Ekiti’s configuration.
As a result, urgent adjustments became necessary in the interest of candidates. Therefore, the board temporarily halted town selection to prevent future logistical challenges.
JAMB added that the restructuring would ensure closer proximity to candidates. Consequently, transportation difficulties on examination days would be significantly reduced.
What Candidates Should Expect
During the ongoing adjustment process, candidates cannot select any examination town in Ekiti State. Nevertheless, JAMB assured that the exercise would be concluded shortly.
Meanwhile, the board expressed regret over any inconvenience caused to affected candidates. It noted that such interventions are part of its routine monitoring process.
JAMB further explained that challenges reported by candidates are promptly addressed. In addition, the board reaffirmed its commitment to improving its operations continuously.
