The advert, signed by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mrs. V. Abosede Wickliffe, invites qualified candidates to submit applications within 42 days of publication.

The recruitment covers a variety of administrative, technical and professional roles, and more than one person may be appointed to each position, depending on the university’s needs.

Positions Available Across Multiple Departments

The openings cut across the following areas:

  1. Registry: Assistant Registrars (CONTISS 9), Administrative Officers I & II (CONTISS 8 & 7).
  2. Bursary: Accountants I & II (CONTISS 8 & 7).
  3. Works & Physical Planning: Engineers, Agriculture Officers, Technologists, Technical Assistants, Drivers/Mechanics.
  4. Centre for Information Technology and Systems (CITS): Systems Analysts.
  5. Medical Centre: Medical Officers, Nurses, Pharmacists, Laboratory Scientists, Radiographers.
  6. Staff School: Masters II.

Each role has specific requirements regarding academic qualifications, NYSC status, ICT literacy and, in some cases, professional certifications. For example:

  • Engineering applicants must hold a B.Sc. in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or related fields and be registrable with COREN.
  • Accountancy roles require accounting degrees and/or ICAN, ANAN or ACCA certification.
  • All applicants must have at least five O’level credits including English and Mathematics.

Full role-by-role requirements are detailed in the official advert on UNILAG’s careers portal.

Why This Recruitment is Significant

The recruitment drive comes at a period of high graduate unemployment and intense competition for roles in federal universities. UNILAG’s non-teaching vacancies provide a rare pathway to stable employment in one of Nigeria’s most prestigious institutions. Each advertised position has the likelihood of multiple hires.
