JAMB Admission Status 2026: How to Check and Accept on CAPS

To check your JAMB admission status, log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose “Check Admission Status”, enter your exam year and registration number, then click “Access my CAPS” and open “Admission Status”. If a school has offered you admission, you will see it there with buttons to accept or reject it. Checking is free.

2026 admissions are running now. For the 2026/2027 session, public universities must finish admissions by 31 October 2026, private universities by 30 November 2026, and polytechnics, monotechnics and colleges of education by 31 December 2026. These dates were set at JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting on 11 May 2026. If you are waiting on an offer, check CAPS regularly until then.

Writing the 2027 UTME? Admission for 2027 candidates starts only after the 2027 UTME and JAMB’s policy meeting that follows it. Neither date has been announced.

What CAPS is

CAPS is the Central Admission Processing System. JAMB introduced it in 2017, and since the 2018/2019 session every admission into a Nigerian university, polytechnic or college of education goes through it. Your school recommends you, JAMB checks that you meet the requirements, and the offer appears on your CAPS page for you to accept.

An admission that never appears on CAPS is not recognised by JAMB. That matters later: you cannot print a JAMB admission letter or be mobilised for NYSC without it.

How to check your admission status on a computer

1. Go to efacility.jamb.gov.ng.
2. Log in with the email address and password you used when you registered for the UTME.
3. Click “Check Admission Status”.
4. Select your exam year, enter your JAMB registration number and click “Access my CAPS”.
5. Click “Admission Status” in the left panel.
6. Your current status shows under “Admission Profile”.
7. If you have an offer, the “Accept Admission” and “Reject Admission” buttons become active. If you have no offer yet, they stay greyed out.

How to check on a phone

Many candidates get stuck on a “Welcome” page on mobile. The fix is to load the desktop version:

1. Open your browser menu (the three dots) and tick “Desktop site”.
2. Go to efacility.jamb.gov.ng and log in.
3. Click “Check Admission Status”, select your exam year, enter your registration number and click “Access my CAPS”.
4. Open “Admission Status” from the left panel and use “Search” beside your registration number if the page asks for it.
5. Accept or reject the offer under “Admission Profile”.

What each admission status means

• Not admitted: no school has offered you admission yet.
• Admission in progress: your school is processing your admission. It has not reached you as an offer yet.
• Recommended: your school has recommended you, and JAMB is checking that you meet the requirements.
• Approved: JAMB has approved the offer. Accept it on CAPS to complete it.
• Accepted: you have accepted the offer. You can now print your JAMB admission letter.

Accept an offer promptly once it appears. Before you click, read the course and school on the offer so you do not reject one by mistake.

How admission moves, step by step

1. UTME registration and exam. You choose your course, institution and subject combination when you register.
2. Cut-off mark. JAMB sets the national minimum after the exam. For 2026/2027 it is 150 for universities and 100 for polytechnics. See the JAMB cut-off mark page.
3. School screening. Your school sets its own cut-off and may hold a post-UTME or screen on your UTME score, O’level grades and catchment.
4. Offer on CAPS. Successful candidates are recommended, approved by JAMB and shown on CAPS.
5. Acceptance. You accept on CAPS, print your admission letter, then follow your school’s acceptance fee and registration steps.

Common problems and fixes

“Invalid login” on eFacility: use the exact email and password from your UTME registration. Reset the password from the login page if you have forgotten it. If the site is slow, try again outside peak hours.

No offer although your score is above the cut-off: the usual causes are an O’level result not uploaded to your JAMB profile, a subject combination that does not match the course, a weak O’level grade in a required subject, or catchment. JAMB will not consider a candidate whose O’level result is missing from the portal, so upload it first.

Wrong name, date of birth or other details: apply for correction of data on the JAMB portal. JAMB’s fee schedule lists it at ₦2,500 plus a ₦100 service charge.

Your school admitted you but CAPS shows nothing: JAMB never captured the admission, so it is not valid yet. The fix is JAMB regularization.

Someone offers to “fix” your CAPS status for a fee: refuse. Only your school can recommend you, and only JAMB can approve. Nobody else can change what CAPS shows.
