JAMB Brochure: How to Check Your Course on IBASS (2027 UTME)

Quick answer: The official JAMB brochure is free on JAMB’s IBASS portal at ibass.jamb.gov.ng. Tap Brochure, search your institution, tap View Courses, then View Details on your course. It shows the UTME subjects, O’level requirements and Direct Entry requirements for that course at that school.

The JAMB brochure for the 2027 UTME

• JAMB does not sell a printed brochure. The official brochure is the one on IBASS, and it is free.
• JAMB has not announced a separate “2027 brochure”. Use what is on IBASS now, and check your course again just before you register, because institutions update their entries.
• Old PDF copies shared on blogs and WhatsApp (2024, 2025) may be out of date. Always confirm your course on IBASS before you register.

How to check your course in the JAMB brochure

Option 1: Search by institution (best on a phone)

1. Open ibass.jamb.gov.ng. The old address, jamb.gov.ng/ibass, opens the same portal.
2. Tap Brochure, then View by institution.
3. Use Filter institution by to choose the type (university, polytechnic, college of education and so on), or type the school’s name into Search.
4. Tap View Courses next to your institution.
5. Find your course and tap View Details.

You will see three things for that course at that school:

• Subjects: the three UTME subjects you must take with Use of English.
• O’level requirements: the five credit passes you need.
• Direct Entry requirements: the A’level, ND, NCE or other qualifications accepted.

Option 2: Read the full brochure by faculty (PDF)

1. On IBASS, tap Brochure, then View by programme (PDF).
2. Read the Introductory note and Important notice at the top first.
3. Tap View details on a faculty to open its PDF. The faculties are Administration, Agriculture, Arts/Humanities, Engineering/Environmental/Technology, Education, Law, Medical/Pharmaceutical/Health Science, Sciences and Social/Management Science.
4. Colleges of education and polytechnics have their own course and school lists on the same page.

The faculty PDFs are large. If the PDF window stays blank on your phone, use Option 1. It shows the same requirements as plain text.

Option 3: Check if you qualify

IBASS also has a programme eligibility checker. Enter your mode of entry, institution, course, O’level credits and your four UTME subjects, and it tells you whether you meet the requirements. Use it before you register, not after.

What the brochure tells you

1. Courses offered: which universities, polytechnics, colleges of education and innovation enterprise institutions offer your course.
2. UTME subjects: the three subjects you must write with Use of English. Use of English is compulsory for every course, so the brochure leaves it out of the tables.
3. O’level requirements: the five credit passes needed (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB or equivalent).
4. Direct Entry requirements: the qualifications accepted for entry into 200 level.
5. Special considerations: where a particular school accepts something different from the general rule. Read this column for your school. It is where many candidates get caught.

General UTME requirements in the brochure

The brochure’s general rules for admission into 100 level are:

• Write the UTME in Use of English plus the three subjects required for your course, and reach an acceptable score.
• Have five O’level credit passes, including English Language (and Mathematics for science and social science courses, unless the brochure says otherwise), in not more than two sittings. Accepted results include WAEC and NECO SSCE, GCE, NABTEB’s NTC/NBC, and Grade II Teachers’ Certificate (TC II). Some universities do not accept TC II for some courses.
• Students already matriculated in a Nigerian university cannot sit the UTME, except those transferring from foreign universities.

Tips before you register

1. Check your course and your school. Two universities can ask for different subjects for the same course.
2. Match your O’level to your UTME subjects. You need credits in the subjects the course asks for.
3. Do it again close to registration. JAMB has not announced the 2027 UTME registration date yet. When it does, re-check your course on IBASS.
4. Do not pay for the brochure. It is free on IBASS. Ignore anyone selling a “JAMB brochure 2027 PDF”.
