What Is the JAMB Matriculation List?

The JAMB matriculation list is the board’s official record of every candidate whose admission has been processed and approved through CAPS (the Central Admissions Processing System). It covers all tertiary institutions — universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, monotechnics and innovation enterprise institutions — not just universities.

It exists to kill admission fraud: before the list, candidates had no independent way to confirm an admission was genuine. Now, if your name is on the matriculation list, your admission is real in JAMB’s records. If it is not, JAMB does not recognise you as a student of that institution — and that catches up with you at NYSC mobilization, because NYSC draws from JAMB’s records. Graduates who skipped this check are the main users of JAMB regularization years later.

How to Check Your Name on the JAMB Matriculation List

Go to efacility.jamb.gov.ng and open the Check Matriculation List service (it is listed among the portal’s services — you do not need to log in for this one).
Select your year of admission from the drop-down.
Enter your JAMB registration number.
Click Fetch My Details. Your name, institution and course appear if your admission has been authenticated.

Checking is free. If a cyber café does it for you, you are paying for their service, not a JAMB fee.

Work through these in order — they cover nearly every case:

You accepted but haven’t printed your admission letter. Print your JAMB admission letter and your result slip, then give the list a little time to reflect.
Your school gave you admission outside CAPS. Some institutions admit candidates internally without routing it through JAMB. Take your admission letter and result slip to your institution’s admission office and ask them to verify and process your admission with JAMB. If the admission was never regularised with JAMB at all, the formal fix is regularization.
Recently admitted? The list is updated in batches as institutions and JAMB process candidates — if you accepted on CAPS this week, check again after a few days before panicking.

One warning: nobody can “add your name” to the matriculation list for a fee. Only the CAPS process and your institution’s admission office move your record. Anyone on WhatsApp or Facebook offering matriculation-list “upgrading” is running a scam.
