What Is the JAMB Matriculation List?

The JAMB matriculation list is the board’s official record of every candidate whose admission has been processed and approved through CAPS (the Central Admissions Processing System). It covers all tertiary institutions — universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, monotechnics and innovation enterprise institutions — not just universities.

It exists to kill admission fraud: before the list, candidates had no independent way to confirm an admission was genuine. Now, if your name is on the matriculation list, your admission is real in JAMB’s records. If it is not, JAMB does not recognise you as a student of that institution — and that catches up with you at NYSC mobilization, because NYSC draws from JAMB’s records. How to Check Your Name on the JAMB Matriculation List

• Open efacility.jamb.gov.ng/CheckMatriculationList. You do not need to log in. (The e-facility home page is only a login form now, so use this direct link. jamb.gov.ng also links it as “Matriculation List” under Candidates.)
• Under Examination, select the UTME you sat, for example “2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)”. The list goes back to 1995.
• Enter your JAMB registration number.
• Click Fetch My Details. Your name, institution and course appear if your admission has been authenticated.

Checking is free. If a cyber café does it for you, you are paying for their service, not a JAMB fee.

JAMB’s own rule for getting on the list: print your admission letter online from e-facility, print your result slip online, then verify both documents with the admission officer in your institution. JAMB’s page also warns that if your name is not on the list, your NYSC application will be declined.

Name Not on the List? Here Is Why (and the Fix)

Work through these in order — they cover nearly every case:

• You accepted but haven’t printed your admission letter. Print your JAMB admission letter and your result slip, then give the list a little time to reflect.
• Your school gave you admission outside CAPS. Some institutions admit candidates internally without routing it through JAMB. Take your admission letter and result slip to your institution’s admission office and ask them to verify and process your admission with JAMB. If the admission was never regularised with JAMB at all, the formal fix is regularization.
• Recently admitted? The list is updated in batches as institutions and JAMB process candidates — if you accepted on CAPS this week, check again after a few days before panicking.

One warning: nobody can “add your name” to the matriculation list for a fee. Only the CAPS process and your institution’s admission office move your record. Anyone on WhatsApp or Facebook offering matriculation-list “upgrading” is running a scam.

Is There a Matriculation List PDF for Each School?

Not for candidates. JAMB’s old institution matriculation list page now says the service “has been moved to the institution handle on e-facility”, so only institutions can pull their full list. As a candidate, you check your own name with your registration number on the official page above. A list shared on WhatsApp or a blog is not a JAMB confirmation; check your own record.

Matriculation List and NYSC

When NYSC mobilization starts, your institution submits its senate-approved list, and JAMB’s records back it up. If your admission was never authenticated by JAMB, you hit a wall at this stage — typically a “no record” problem that forces regularization and can delay your service year.
