The management of Lagos State University (LASU) has issued a warning to newly admitted students over fraudulent attempts by individuals to extort money through fake acceptance fee payment links.
In a statement made available to journalists, the university said it had been “alerted to fraudulent attempts by some individuals to deceive newly admitted students by sending emails containing fake payment links for the acceptance fee.”
It added: “Admitted students are strongly advised to note that the link to a Paystack platform currently being circulated via email is fake and does not originate from the University. Such messages should be disregarded immediately.”
Payments Must Be Made on Official Website
LASU stressed that all official payments should be made only through the university’s website.
“For the avoidance of doubts, the acceptance fee and all other payments are to be made via the university website: lasu.edu.ng,” the statement read.
The institution also cautioned students, both new and returning, to verify all information relating to the University exclusively through its official platforms.
