UDUS Releases 2026/2027 Academic Calendar, Fixes November 9 for Lectures

Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS) has released its approved undergraduate academic calendar for the 2026/2027 academic session, setting out dates for admission confirmation, registration, lectures, semester breaks and examinations.

The calendar covers the First and Second Semesters of the session and provides separate registration periods for newly admitted and returning students. According to the published schedule, confirmation of admission and registration for new students will run from Monday, October 12 to Saturday, November 7, 2026. Returning students will register from Monday, October 26 to Saturday, November 7, 2026.

First-semester lectures are scheduled to begin on Monday, November 9, 2026, and continue until Saturday, December 19, before the mid-semester break.

UDUS First Semester Calendar

The first semester will open with a four-week period for confirmation of admission and registration of newly admitted students. The exercise is scheduled for Monday, October 12 to Saturday, November 7, 2026.

Returning students will have two weeks to complete their registration, from Monday, October 26 to Saturday, November 7, 2026.

Lectures will then commence on Monday, November 9 and run until Saturday, December 19, 2026. The university has scheduled the first-semester mid-semester break for Monday, December 21 to Saturday, December 26.

Academic activities will resume on Monday, December 28, with lectures continuing until Saturday, February 13, 2027.

First-semester examinations are scheduled to begin on Monday, February 15 and end on Saturday, March 20, 2027. The examination period will be followed by marking and moderation of results from Monday, March 22 to Saturday, April 10.

The schedule therefore places the end-of-first-semester examination activities immediately before preparations for the second semester.

Second Semester Lectures and Examinations

According to the approved calendar, second-semester lectures will begin on Monday, April 12, 2027, and continue until Saturday, May 29.

The university has scheduled the second-semester mid-semester break for Monday, May 31 to Saturday, June 5. Lectures will resume on Monday, June 7 and continue until Saturday, July 17.

Second-semester examinations will commence on Monday, July 19 and run until Saturday, August 14, 2027.

After the examinations, marking, moderation and consideration of results by the University Senate are scheduled to take place from Monday, August 16 to Saturday, September 18.

The 2026/2027 academic session will consequently run through this end-of-session process before the university begins the next academic year.

UDUS 2026/2027 Academic Calendar: Key Dates

For newly admitted students, confirmation of admission and registration will take place from October 12 to November 7, 2026, while returning students will register from October 26 to November 7, 2026.

First-semester lectures will begin on November 9, 2026, with the mid-semester break scheduled for December 21 to 26, 2026. Lectures will resume on December 28 and continue until February 13, 2027.

First-semester examinations will hold from February 15 to March 20, 2027, followed by marking and moderation from March 22 to April 10.

For the second semester, lectures will begin on April 12, 2027, followed by a mid-semester break from May 31 to June 5. Lectures will resume on June 7 and end on July 17.

Second-semester examinations are scheduled for July 19 to August 14, 2027, while end-of-session marking, moderation and Senate consideration of results will take place from August 16 to September 18.

The university has fixed Monday, September 20, 2027, as the beginning of the 2027/2028 academic session.

The calendar also lists public holidays falling within the academic year, including Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Workers’ Day, Democracy Day and National Day. The dates given for Id-el-Fitr, Id-el-Kabir and Id-el-Maulud are marked as provisional because they depend on projected moon sighting and remain subject to official confirmation.

Students are expected to take note of the scheduled dates, particularly the registration deadlines and examination periods. Any subsequent alteration to the calendar should be confirmed through official communication from Usmanu Danfodiyo University.
