The University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) has extended the deadline for undergraduate students to update their personal information, upload required credentials and complete course registration, warning that non-compliance could result in withdrawal from the university.
The revised deadline is Tuesday, October 20, 2026, according to an internal circular issued by the Office of the Registrar. The directive requires students to complete their online registration and submit printed copies of their bio-data and course registration forms to their respective departments.
The circular, referenced R/ACA.24/VOL.VII, was signed by the Registrar, Ahmad A. Lawan, following concerns that many undergraduate students still have incomplete profiles and outstanding registration records.
UNIMAID Lists Documents Required for Profile Update
Under the directive, all undergraduate students are required to update their personal information on the university portal and upload scanned copies of their credentials.
The required documents include the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) admission letter, O’Level results, Primary School Leaving Certificate and Indigene Certificate. Students must also ensure that their profile photographs meet the university’s requirements, as casual, stylised and fashion photographs are prohibited.
Students are further required to provide an electronic signature. They can either sign directly on the digital pad of a mobile device or upload a clear scanned copy of a signature written in black ink.
The university has also directed students to change their default portal passwords immediately. It warned them against sharing login details with third parties, including cybercafé operators, stressing that students would be held personally responsible for the security of their accounts.
Students Must Submit Printed Forms to Departments
Beyond updating their profiles, undergraduate students must complete their semester course registration online and submit the required printed documents to their respective Heads of Department (HODs).
After completing the online process, students are required to print their finalised bio-data forms and course registration forms. Both documents must then be submitted physically to their departments.
The requirement means that completing the online registration alone is insufficient. Students must also ensure that the printed documents reach their respective departments before the portal closes.
UNIMAID Warns of Withdrawal for Non-Compliance
The university management has warned that students who fail to complete the profile update, upload the required documents, register their courses and submit the printed forms before the deadline risk automatic withdrawal from the institution.
According to the circular, the sanction could apply even to students who have already sat for and completed their final examinations for the current session.
The warning underscores the importance of completing every stage of the process rather than treating the portal update as a routine administrative exercise.
Students experiencing technical difficulties, errors in their profiles or other portal-related problems have been advised to visit the university’s Computer and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Centre for assistance.
They may also contact the support helpline on 07037795011 for further assistance.
Students can access the registration portal through “UNIMAID Student Portal” (https://umstad.online/) and are advised to complete all outstanding requirements well before the deadline.
