UNIUYO Begins Postgraduate Admission for 2026/2027 Academic Session

The University of Uyo (UNIUYO) has commenced the sale of application forms for admission into its postgraduate programmes for the 2026/2027 academic session.

In a statement signed by the Registrar, Mrs. Blossom E. Okorie, the University invited suitably qualified candidates to apply for admission into its Postgraduate Diploma (PGD), Master’s, M.Phil./Ph.D, and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) programmes offered across various faculties and disciplines.

The institution stated that the programmes are available in faculties including Agriculture, Arts, Basic Medical Sciences, Clinical Sciences, Communication and Media Studies, Education, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Law, Management Sciences, Pharmacy, Social Sciences, Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences, Computing, and Vocational Education, Library and Information Science.

Available Programmes

Applications are invited into:

  • Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)
  • Master’s Degree Programmes
  • M.Phil./Ph.D Programmes
  • Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) Programmes

Duration of Study

According to the admission guidelines, PGD programmes run for two to four semesters, while Engineering PGD programmes last between four and six semesters. Master’s degree programmes have a duration of four to six semesters, whereas Ph.D programmes run for six to ten semesters.

Candidates admitted into M.Phil./Ph.D programmes are required to spend a minimum of two semesters before progressing to the doctoral stage, subject to satisfactory performance.

Admission Requirements

Prospective applicants must possess a minimum of five O’Level credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics.

Candidates seeking admission into the Postgraduate Diploma programme are expected to hold at least a Third Class Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Uyo or any other institution recognised by the University’s Senate. Holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) certificates with a minimum of Lower Credit may also be considered where applicable.

Applicants must also provide evidence of NYSC discharge, exemption, or exclusion, submit official academic transcripts, and provide three referee reports. In addition, candidates applying for research-based programmes may be required to submit research proposals in line with departmental requirements.

Application Procedure

Interested candidates are to complete their applications online through the University’s admissions portal.

Applicants are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of Twenty Thousand Naira (₦20,000) before completing the online registration process. After payment, candidates are expected to fill out the application form and upload all relevant credentials and supporting documents in PDF format.

The University emphasized that all submissions shall be made electronically, as hard-copy submission of application documents will not be accepted.

Application Deadline

The sale of application forms will remain open for two months from the date of the official advertisement. Candidates are advised to complete their registration early and ensure that all required documents are uploaded before the deadline.
