The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has clarified why candidates are yet to access their 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) Original Result Slips.
The Board said the printing portal has not been activated because it is still concluding key processes linked to the 2026 admission exercise. This includes the recently concluded foreign examinations and preparations for the mop-up examination for affected candidates.
Candidates Asked to Exercise Patience
In a statement issued by JAMB’s Public Communication Adviser, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, candidates were urged to remain calm while the Board completes the remaining stages of the examination cycle.
According to him:
“The printing of the 2026 UTME Original Result Slip has not yet been activated. Candidates are kindly urged to be patient as the Board has just concluded the foreign examinations and is also preparing to conduct the mop-up examination for candidates who were unable to sit for the main examination through no fault of theirs.”
The Board noted that the ongoing activities are necessary before the official result slips can be made available to candidates.
Why the Original Result Slips Are Important
Furthermore, JAMB explained that the UTME is not merely a score-based examination. Rather, it is a ranking examination that determines candidates’ positions relative to one another.
For this reason, the Board said all outstanding processes must be concluded before candidates can obtain their official result slips.
Benjamin stated:
“Candidates are reminded that the UTME is a ranking examination, and the Original Result Slip contains the ranking of candidates. Consequently, all necessary processes must be completed before the slips can be released.”
The Original Result Slip is a key document required by many tertiary institutions during Post-UTME registration, screening, and admission processing.
Portal Will Be Activated Shortly
Meanwhile, JAMB assured candidates that the delay is temporary. The Board said the printing portal would be activated immediately after the necessary adjustments have been completed.
Benjamin added: “As soon as the necessary adjustments are concluded, the printing portal will be activated. This will be done shortly, and candidates will be duly informed when to proceed with the printing of their result slips.”
The Board also expressed regret over the delay and appealed for understanding from candidates and other stakeholders.
What Candidates Should Do
For now, candidates are advised to await further communication from JAMB. Once the portal is activated, the Board is expected to announce the commencement of the printing process through its official channels.
Until then, candidates should disregard unverified claims suggesting that the printing of the 2026 UTME Original Result Slip has commenced. JAMB maintains that an official notice will be issued when the service becomes available.
