Important Point to Note From the JAMB Brochure

  • The guidance and instructions offered in this brochure will help candidates choose relevant universities and programs, as well as properly complete the ONLINE Application Forms. The Board will not process any form filled without following the rules and regulations outlined in the brochure.
  • To be admitted to the 100 level of the chosen Programme in any of the Institutions, a candidate must achieve an acceptable level of performance on the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in subjects relevant to the intended program of study.
  • The UTME subjects required for the particular Programme are listed in Tables in the Brochure. All applicants should be aware that “Use of English” is a prerequisite for all programs and has thus been omitted from the Tables to avoid unnecessary repetition.

General JAMB Requirements

Candidates must take the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and achieve a satisfactory score in the Use of English (Compulsory) and three (3) subjects required for the chosen program of study, as detailed in the relevant chapters of this brochure.

In addition to receiving an acceptable score on the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, the candidate must meet one of the following qualifications:

  • National Examinations Council (NECO)/West African Examinations Council (WAEC) Senior School Certificate (SSC) or Senior School Certificate/General Certificate of Education (SSC/GCE) or equivalents with credit passes in five (5) subjects, including English and Mathematics, obtained in no more than two (2) sittings unless otherwise specified.
  • Grade II Teachers’ Certificate (TC II) with credit or merit passes in at least five (5) academic areas. TCII IS NOT ACCEPTABLE FOR SOME PROGRAMMES AT SOME UNIVERSITIES.
  • National Technical Certificate (NTC) or National Business Certificate (NBC) with credit passes in five (5) subjects, including English and Mathematics, acquired in no more than two (2) sittings. The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) granted the NTC/NBC.

Unless otherwise noted, all Science and Social Science Programmes require a credit pass in Mathematics and all programs require a credit pass in English.

Please keep in mind that matriculated students at any university are ineligible to take the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), with the exception of those transferring from foreign universities.
